Maddie is a public health research consultant based in Nelson, BC, situated on the traditional unceded territory of the Sinixt, the Ktunaxa, and the Syilx peoples. She is a dynamic and community-minded MSc Global Health graduate who is passionate about advancing equitable access to health services and creating opportunities for all people to achieve well-being through an empathetic, person-centred approach.
With several years of experience in health research and knowledge translation, Maddie has worked with research teams, community partners, and health organizations to make evidence more accessible, relevant, and actionable. Her work emphasizes decolonizing approaches, meaningful engagement, and strengthening capacities within health systems.
Maddie currently supports research and knowledge exchange initiatives focused on advancing First Nations health and self-determination in BC, leading activities that bring research findings into practice for both community and health leadership audiences. She has also led the design and delivery of national knowledge translation projects in the substance use and mental health fields, coordinating educational initiatives, developing evaluation frameworks, and creating resources to strengthen public and professional health literacy. In addition, she brings experience in curriculum design, project management, and the development of training programs for health professionals and community-based practitioners.
Approaching her work with curiosity, creativity, and empathy, Maddie integrates communications and information design into her public health practice to improve the accessibility and impact of health knowledge. She spends her time offline exploring the outdoors, planning her next big adventure, and finding new ways to connect with people and the world around her.
